Retro Design Clinic

The Retrodesign Project, a collaboration between ÃÛÌÒ´«Ã½appÆƽâ°æ's Center for Design, Technology, and Industry and the TROY Phenix City Campus, provides students an opportunity to create academic projects that revisit the from a cultural, historical, economic and civic perspective. This collaboration also aims to create academic projects that foster teaching and learning opportunities through creative education and design thinking.

In the Fall of 2021, students enrolled in Design Studio (ART 4424) were tasked with researching local businesses in operation between 1945 and 1955 within the Phenix City community. As part of the project, students were required to create business signage, an advertisement, a mural proposal, a hand-painted distressed sign and T-shirt designs for production. This comprehensive assignment provided students with invaluable experience in creative community investigation and investment, fostering economic sustainability within the local area.

Phenix City Campus Closure – Frequently Asked Questions

ÃÛÌÒ´«Ã½appÆƽâ°æ announced in March that the Phenix City Campus will officially close at the end of the year. We understand this may create a sense of uncertainty for our current Phenix City students. Please know that you are still a ÃÛÌÒ´«Ã½appÆƽâ°æ student, and we remain fully committed to your academic success. Below are answers to common questions regarding this transition:
What will my status be after the campus closes?

You will remain a ÃÛÌÒ´«Ã½appÆƽâ°æ student, and we hope you will continue your degree journey with us! Unless you choose to take classes at another ÃÛÌÒ´«Ã½appÆƽâ°æ location, you will become a TROY Online student and may continue your program through online courses.

Our expert online advisors will support you through this transition, especially if you're new to TROY's online learning environment. You will be assigned an online advisor who will be in touch with you.

When will in-person classes stop at the Phenix City Campus? When will the campus close?

Most in-person classes will end this summer with the conclusion of Term 5. At that time, students should plan to transition to online classes.

A limited number of courses (ELE 4454 PSAA and ELE 4474 PSPA) will be offered in Fall 2025 to help currently enrolled students complete their programs.

The campus will fully close on December 31, 2025. After that date, no services or staff will be available at the Phenix City location.

What about student support services, advising, or other resources?

TROY offers several alternatives, including:

  • Online proctoring through ProctorU
  • Testing centers at other TROY locations
  • Approved third-party testing centers
